Every 5 minutes in the US, a person dies from a drug overdose. In honor of those that have
battled and lost their fight with addiction, on Overdose Awareness Day, August 31 st , 2022,
throughout several CNY counties, there will be opportunities for life-saving, harm reduction
education and activities, such as on the spot Narcan training.
The Central Region Addiction Resource Center, a program of BRiDGES (Madison County
Council on Alcohol and Substance of Abuse, Inc.), has partnered with several agencies for this
day. Efforts will focus on remembrance and hope, along with raising crucial awareness of the
drug crisis our country faces, to reduce stigma, and to come together to let those struggling
know they are not alone on this journey.
Community members are invited to come to the locations listed to decorate a luminary bag in
memory of their loved one, participate in activities, and to share a message of hope. Supplies
will be available at no cost to participants.
